Biennale INTERIEUR 2014

INTERIEUR 2014 and its strict selection of forward-thinking exhibitors are redefining the essence of product presentation.

The out-of-the-box exhibition design of the Biennale INTERIEUR 2014 is offering space and visibility to the ideas of its exhibitors.

At the centre of each hall in Kortrijk Xpo, visitors discovered an agora, an assembly of different and innovative ways for brands to participate in the Biennale: unique stands, INTERIEUR's new plug-and-play islands, award winning bars, and dedicated exhibitions.

The curatorial programme "Theatre of Everyday Life" was presented in the centrally located Rambla of Xpo.

Together these events created a spacious and surprising landscape.

The exhibition layout set by granstudio reflects one of the intentions of Biennale INTERIEUR 2014: to combine the best, newest, and most avant-garde expressions of today's production with a nod to future developments. Therefore, rather than simply expressing design in itself, the layout aimed to create space for different participants to express themselves at their best.  We sought to create a kind of urban plan that became a stage for individual expression.

The city programme of the Biennale INTERIEUR 2014 was a visually linked trail along Buda Island in the heart of Kortrijk City, an inspirational route with young design talent, cultural installations, and meeting places.

'An event with a biennial format, the current edition of Interieur – the second led by Lowie Vermeersch – has succeeded in achieving a sophisticated balance between the stands by selected top producers of designer objects and furniture and the promotion of research and awards – Interieur Awards – along with specially-created spaces and bistrot.
